Beginnings of the Furrdown Removal

The furrdown was one of the worst features of the old galley-style kitchen. On the second day of the new year (2004), our demolition project turned to the removal of this 1970's relic. Upon initial removal of the drywall, we were given a good idea of what the process would involve.
The furrdown is actually framed using standard 2x4's. It is essentially a rectangular box that is attached to the ceiling joists. It simply hangs down, from the joists, into the room.
