Another Look at Furrdown Removal

Another Look at Furrdown Removal

In this shot of the furrdown, you can see several things. First off, you notice that the furrdown itself is simply "hung" from the ceiling joists using standard 2x4's. You can see these short, vertical 2x4's in the closest part of the furrdown in the picture.

Secondly, you'll notice that there is an A/C duct extending from inside the attic, down into the furrdown. This did not really represent much of a problem: once the furrdown was removed, we simply trimmed the duct back such that it was flush with the new ceiling height. This allowed the A/C registered to be installed in exactly the same location as it was previously, only 1-foot higher.

Finally, notice the pink fiberglass insulation. This stuff is gross. Be careful when demolishing things that have insulation behind or above them, as the fiberglass can and will fall all over you.
