A Makeshift Solution to the Hole in the Kitchen Ceiling
So the 8-foot by 8-foot hole in the kitchen ceiling was a direct opening to the attic above. Being early January in central Texas, nights can get pretty chilly, so something had to be done to help with the drafts.
After another one of many trips to Home Depot, we found this paper drop-cloth backed with plastic and stapled it to the ceiling joists. We also notched out a little place for the A/C duct to come through. Albeit not very energy efficient, this temporary solution did help to keep the hot air in the house and cold(er) air in the attic.
