This skips ahead in time probably an hour or so. After the cowling was removed, I disconnected all of the hoses that lead to the water pump. I also removed the fan and fan clutch from it. This picture shows where the water pump used to be — you can see the bright green radiator fluid intake on the engine block, just below the bright silver coolant router.

This shot is looking down into the engine compartment. Leaving the drain pan beneath you is a good idea while your woking...

...because as you can see, it has filled up a bit more since the initial fluid drain. Also, Texans love to advertise The Lone Star State.

This is a fairly poor shot of the engine pulley system. Without removing too many of these nor the radiator itself, getting to the water pump is pretty difficult. It can be done, however, with ratchet extensions and some patience.

Here is a close-up of where the water pump bolts-on to the engine block. Before installing the new water pump, you want to ensure that you scrape off the old gasket — the area should be clean, and you should definitely use gasket sealant on the new gasket.

Another shot of where the pump blots-on to the engine block. The bolt pattern makes it difficult to remove the pump — note the bottom bolt location. This is, again, where good tools and patience help out.
